Big News!!
God has opened an incredible door for ministry in Copper Center Alaska. The Baptist Resource Network has provided us with a building for the purpose of opening North Words' Mission and Ministry training facility. Here we intend to train both locals and missionaries in ministry. We will be teaching courses in Biblical Interpretation (Hermeneutics), Expounding the Scriptures (Homiletics), and Biblical Counseling. Missionary students will also receive training on living in arctic conditions and life in rural Alaska.
It is our hope, goal and prayer that we be used of God to equip believers for service in their churches and that we are able to place pastors in many of the pastor less churches here in the state. We are in the process of getting the building ready for missionary students to live at the facility while they receive training. Northern Life Church (the building in Copper Center) closed due to lack of pastoral leadership. The building has a great teaching and training area in the former sanctuary, and we are turning the fellowship hall into a common living area with kitchen, shower room, and laundry included. We are also planning to build camping cabins for the students to reside and sleep in.
We have a team of workers in Delta Junction and in North Pole Alaska ready and waiting to continue readying the facility. Right now, we are in need of building materials to finish the common living area and building the camping cabins. We are in need of funds for these materials, and we are asking for your support in this endeavor. Please pray and give as we seek to equip the saints for the work of service here in the Last Frontier, Alaska.
God bless and thank you,
Glen and Kathy Cotton
Building Update!!!
We give thanks to the Lord for His Provision. We have received the materials and funds needed to put in the men's and women's shower rooms for missionary students AND a crew from Delta Junction Alaska plans to put them in in December! We have also received some funds toward the student kitchen, bringing that need down to $4,000.00. Thank you to The Church at North Pole, who has asked to send a mission team to take on the Kitchen install as soon as the funds are raised. We, by the provision of God, will be able to begin our first ministry training course beginning this January! God has opened many doors of opportunity in the area for ministry and we are so thankful for the chance to serve in this area of the state. Please keep us in your prayers and please consider supporting this ministry. If we have the funds for completion in time, we could host our first missionary students this Summer. Thank you all for your love, prayers, support, and encouragement as we "Equip the Saints for the Work of Service" in the Last Frontier.
NorthWords beginning
We began NorthWord Ministries (after pastoring Clearwater Baptist Church in Delta Junction AK for 28 years) with a multi-faceted plan, all with the purpose of strengthening the Christian churches in Alaska. We officially began in August 2022.
First, we offer courses to help equip individual believers to serve and minister in their churches. In our 2023/2024 courses we will be offering Basic Bible Interpretation, Biblical Counseling, Expounding on the Scriptures, and Pneumatology. We will be offering courses in Delta Junction, North Pole Alaska and soon in Copper Center AK as well.
Next, in our church revitalization ministry, we wanted to come along side churches that are struggling and in need of leadership and Preaching of God's Word. Our goal is to help churches who are struggling become fruitful again, encourage and establish them in God's Word and assist them in finding an expository pastor/teacher. Through Gods guidance we have been serving at Crossroads Baptist Church in North Pole Alaska since October 2022 and finished there July 2024 when pastor Colin Winkleman began ministry there. After Crossroads Glen has been officially called as pastor for Kenny Lake Chapel and this will be our next revitalization work.
We would also like to assist those who desire to serve in Alaska as a point of contact, information, guidance and help.
Lastly, we feel there is a need in our churches for men's ministry to encourage, challenge and strengthen the faith of men. (Strengthen men and the church is strengthened, and the home is strengthened as well)
